Historical Monetary Statistics of Sweden#

The Riksbank project lists three volumes: exchange rates, prices and wages for 1277–2008; house prices, stock returns, national accounts and the Riksbank balance sheet for 1620–2012; and banking, bonds, national wealth and Stockholm house prices for 1420–2020. Their date ranges differ because the subjects and historical evidence differ. S183

For a banking-history question, the banking and balance-sheet material is particularly relevant; for long-run purchasing power, prices and wages are a different starting point. The project explains the difficulty of keeping definitions consistent over time. A historical observation should be read with the relevant volume's definitions rather than assumed identical to a modern statistical category. S183

Selected publication and bibliographic scope#

The Cambridge record identifies Edvinsson, Jacobson and Waldenström as editors of the 2018 central-banking volume. Editorial credit is different from authorship of every chapter. The record establishes the book and editors; it does not establish that the whole text has been inspected for this guide. The book offers a route into the history of the Riksbank and comparative central banking. S052
